Have You Heard?

Have you heard that churches are missing
two important letters these days
and the pews are not as full now
as they were in bygone days?
Someone said the missing letters
mean the message is somehow lost
and we can see from the worldly unrest
we are paying a terrible cost.
The letters from the apostles
are still being read I know,
because I hear their messages
and they give my life new hope.
In letters from Luke to Theophilus
I hear about the early church
and how the gift of the Holy Spirit
helps people spread the gospel words.
I hear the letters of Paul to the Romans
and to the Corinthians too
and also to the Galatians
and to Ephesians as the church grew.
In Paul's letter to the Philippians
that is written from a prison cell,
he shares the joy of living
with Jesus Christ as the helm.
I hear Paul’s letters to the Colossians,
to the Thessalonians, Timothy and Titus as well
and letters to Philemon and the Hebrews
and the message of mercy James tells.
I give thanks for the letters of Peter
and the truth of faith from John,
along with the warning from Jude
about false teachers we may come upon.
I listen to words from the Revelations
that John wrote to churches in his time,
assuring that good will triumph over evil
by the saving power of God Divine.
Then as I contemplate the missing letters
that a friend revealed to me,
I know I must pass on the message:
"Come to ch _ _ ch! U R missed,
don’t you see!"
