I choose not to be a victim
Of unrelenting fear,
Rather I choose peace
Even though I shed tears,
For tears I know are healing
They let the pain move on
And before I even realize
The pain is almost gone.
Yes my heart knows sorrow.
Like you, I've had my share
But I won't let it blind me
From the blessings life shares.

The world has come together
Like a family far and near
Uniting in so many ways
Since the terrorists caused fear
To fill the hearts of many
When destruction took its toll
Causing death and devastation
For unsuspecting souls.
The heartache and the sorrow
Has moved across the land,
But the enemy will not win
For God has a healing plan.

We're to reach out in love
And help to sooth the pain
Of all the hurting souls
We meet along life's way.
We're to share a unity
That only love can bring
Lifting hearts in pray
That has a peaceful ring.
So please won't you join me
As I turn to God and pray,
"Asking guidance, love and peace
For people everywhere today."
