Sunset Over The Bras d'Or Lake
At The Blarney Shore

Country Living

Peace lingers like the morning fog. . .
Stillness has settled over the lake.
Nearby a lone seagull rests on the rock
as I breath in the beauty of this new day.

Three ducks fly by in a row
quietly they pass over the still surface.
The seagull remains resting on the rock,
as I rest in God’s loving presence.

This shoreline was once our welcome mat
during many years gone before,
a footpath to nature’s swimming pool
where the stable rock served as our diving board.

Swimming in the lake offered a pleasing refreshment,
a delightful reprieve from the heat of summer’s sun.
Here we grew together as family and friends
sharing the blessings of the lake - such fun.

In winter the lake transformed into our skating rink
with fresh air and beauty our afternoon matinee.
Freedom was ours as we’d glide along for miles,
occasionally visiting friends on the North Side of the bay.

Majestically the mirror of morning fog lifts
enhancing my view of this peaceful place.
A record hot summer has recently expired
and the Bras d’Or Lake now rests in dawn’s grace.

A soothing home to the seagull on the rock
and home to me, as I recall yesterdays,
and give thanks for the blessings of solitude
and country living in beautiful East Bay.
