Irish Blessings For You

I send you Irish blessings
filled with love and compassion
blessings that you find today
are shared in every action
of every person you meet
as you journey along
and in every melody
you hear in Irish songs.
May every smile that greets you
bring blessings to your soul
the kind that brings healing
as this day comes and goes.

Words From An Ancient Prayer
This day I call to me:
God's strength to direct me,
God's power to sustain me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's vision to light me,
God's ear to my hearing,
God's word to my speaking,
God's hand to uphold me,
God's pathway before me,
God's shield to protect me...

I fondly recall our father
singing Irish songs
and although my favorite
Irish song is:
When Irish Eyes Are Smiling
One of the many other
Irish songs that he sang was
about Dublin's Fair City.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Saint Patrick was a special guy!
He helped the world. Do you know why?
Some people say he charmed the snakes,
out of Ireland for goodness sake.
But the important truth you see,
was that he helped set people free...
He was sold as a slave when very young
and made a shepherd boy for long.
But as a Christian he loved the Lord,
and when he finally escaped
he returned once more,
to serve the Irish as a missionary,
using a Shamrock to illustrate the glory
of the Blessed Trinity of God
and how His Spirit fills us with love,
when we ask Jesus to renew our hearts
and daily help us do our part
as shepherds of love who truly believe
God's will brings peace that sets us free.

a Happy Saint Patrick's Day for all.

On the morning of St. Patrick's Day, 1998, I went for a walk down Blarney Road (so named by my father) where the sun shone warm upon my face and the crisp morning air carried the music of life. When I came home I sent emails to friends and family and shared the following greeting with many. For you who are reading this now, this is my prayer for you and your loved ones too.

The Music of Life

May Saint Patrick's Day
bring to you
sweet dreams
and blessings too
and in the blessings that you share
as winter turns to spring
may the music of life greet you
in the whisper of the wind.
May the Irish symbol of the Shamrock
be for you and your loved ones too,
a sign of God's loving presence
in the natural beauty surrounding you,
and may you always
feel assured
your life's in the hands
of a gentle, loving Lord.
