Light
Your son's gentle eyes look back at you
seeking wisdom for the path he will choose,
needing guidance along the way
from all who love him from day to day,
seeking security in your love
and all the understanding you're capable of,
guided by the One who allowed you to be
a Mother who'll nourish tenderly.
as a sign of his trust in all you will do,
caring for him when caressed in your arms
protecting him from any harm,
guiding him too in spiritual ways
taking time daily to earnestly pray
that God will bless this special child
as you give thanks for his precious smiles.
that God will bless you and your son every day.
May God's Love always be your guiding light
throughout the day and on through the night,
so that when the time comes and your son is grown
he will know that he is never alone,
because God is living within his soul

Mothers of the world
come rejoice with me
for the many blessings
shared in loving unity
when growing children blossom
like roses on a vine
gifts of our Creator
sparks of the Divine;
than roses that grow
needing much more nourishment
as the seasons come and go,
with love and tender discipline
balanced in a way
that helps a child to realize
why we celebrate in May...
of women long ago
praying that peacefulness
would grow in every soul
so that no mother's child
would have to go to war
so that all might live in harmony
throughout the world forever more.
