Today's Scripture Reading

In Him Find Rest

If God would change one thing about you
what do you think it would be?
This question I am pondering
was recently asked to me.

Would God want me to trust Him
more than I presently do?
Would God ask me to let go of
things that upset me too?

When I ask myself these questions
I can see that letting go
reaches into some areas
where I want have control.

But who do I really think I am
that I might make someone else choose
the way they live their life
or the things they say and do.

All God asks of anyone
is to love with all our hearts
and trust that He will always
look after His own part.

Trusting may be a challenge
when our plans are all upset.
But when we believe God loves us
we'll let go and in Him find rest.

Jesus is Knocking

Sightings of a strange animal
in our area have many people questioning,
"What is it?"
My husband measured the tracks
and they measured 4" wide and 4-1/2" long.
It is much larger than your average coyote
and captured one deer that we know of,
the carcass being left at the shore nearby.
Our daughter Andrea sent me the following link:
Mammals
If you have seen this intriguing animal
in our area, check out the tracks
and contact your Dept of Lands and Forrests
with whatever information you have.

Because He Lives

A Blessing

Today I had a phone call
from a friend just up the road,
her warm and caring manner
has set my heart aglow.
So I wanted to say thank you
for her encouraging words
and her message of surpise
a blessing shared in turn.
May God bless you dear friend
because you took the time
to share appreciation
for a little poem of mine.
May the sun that shines today
add light and new life too
to all that you encounter
and everything you do.

Today's Scripture Reading

The Other 10 Commandments

Thou shall not worry, for worry is the
most unproductive of all human activities.

Thou shall not be fearful, for most of
the things we fear never come to pass.

Thou shall not cross bridges before you
come to them, for no one yet has succeeded
in accomplishing this.

Thou shall face each problem as it comes.
You can only handle one at a time anyway.

Thou shall not take problems to bed with you,
for they make very poor bedfellows.

Thou shall not borrow other people's problems.
They can better care for them than you can.

Thou shall not try to relive yesterday
for good or ill, it is forever gone.
Concentrate on what is happening in your
life and be happy now!

Thou shall be a good listener, for only
when you listen do you hear different ideas
from your own. It is hard to learn
something new when you are talking, and
some people do know more than you do.

Thou shall not become "bogged down"
by frustration, for ninety percent of it is
rooted in self-pity and will only interfere
with positive action.

Thou shall count thy blessings, never
overlooking the small ones, for a lot of
small blessings add up to a big one.

Angels Among Us

An Uphill Climb

"That a man bow his head like a reed
and lie in sackcloth and ashes?
Do you call this a fast,
a day acceptable to the Lord?
This, rather, is the fasting that I wish:
releasing those bound unjustly,
untying the thongs of the yoke;
Setting free the oppressed,
breaking every yoke;
Sharing your bread with the hungry,
sheltering the oppressed and the homeless;
Clothing the naked when you see them,
and not turning your back on your own."
