NORTH GOWER
COOPERATIVE
NURSERY SCHOOL INC.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Our cooperative nursery school is held in the North Gower R.A. Centre. This facility allows space for quiet play, as well as room for larger equipment for development of motor skills and a large outdoor area with apparatus for climbing, sliding, digging, etc.
The school is a non-profit , self-supporting , cooperative venture that depends on tuition fees, fundraising revenue, a small township grant, and a small direct operating grant from the Ontario government to pay its way. With the exception of the teaching and cleaning staff, all work in the organization is voluntary.
The school is an incorporated body, administered on a volunteer basis by parents who volunteer to serve a one year term on the board of directors. We are licensed by the Ontario Department of Community and Social Services, Day Nurseries Branch.
PHILOSOPHY
Our junior program is designed to be socially and cognitively oriented.
Our aim is to provide a well planned, stimulating, healthy environment in which a young child can develop socially, cognitively, emotionally and physically.
SCHOOL YEAR
The school term begins the same week as the public school (Ottawa Carleton Board of Education) and runs for 41-43 weeks as determined by the Executive and teachers. New students may join the program at any time, space permitting.
